Life on the other side

Well I guess it’s been a pretty interesting three months in Canada so far.

I’ve settled down in my new home; the company I worked for was bought out by RIM; I’ve done no open source work; I hosted Troy over the weekend when he came to Toronto for the Ontario Linux Fest; I’ve played a lot of Super Mario World on my new Wii; I’ve seen Niagara Falls and finally I’ve been bloody ill for the past 11 weeks which culminated in 3 trips to the doctor, two courses of antibiotics and almost every weekend indoors sleeping.

What a great way to start life in a new country! Thankfully it looks like I’m finally on the mend and I’m feeling better than I have done ever since arriving in Toronto. I reckon it’ll be another week or two before I’m healthy again - just in time for Hallowe’en!

Maybe I’ll be able to go out on the bike at last.

"Life on the other side" by recardos para orkut

There’s blood on the floor
And you’re not even moving
Don’t really know if it’s mine or yours
But you aint moving
Eyes are ide as you grin at me
You know there’s a place that you’d rather be
But if you should die and I survive
How could I go on knowing that I am still alive
Here breathing
There’s a beast that’s living deep within me
Forcing me to feed all my needs
Yeah he’s in me
And he brought us here to end our fears
To wave goodbye to all of the tears
To start a new life on the other side of the river
Well my world would be over
Hold on, hold on, I won’t be long
Wait for me, man, I won’t ne long
You were such in a rush to reach the other side
Look at yourself with that look in your eye
Smilimg wide and pre-occupied with that river
Well my world would be over
Send “Other Side

…and now you have winter to look forward to….

On the bike front, make sure you don’t pay full price for anything. There are always end of season or pre-season sales with really good prices on previous season’s stock, so worth biding your time and keeping an eye open for a good sale. Plus, with the snow a month or so away, you can afford to be patient as biking opportunities get pretty rare once the roads are full of slush (unless your a far braver man than me, which i admit many are ;)
